Why theater?: Because it is constantly challenging, and often in wonderfully unexpected ways.
Who do you play in the lighthouse invites the storm?: Jay
Tell us about the lighthouse invites the storm: The play explores a romance that is, like many romances, sometimes quite exciting, and at other times somewhat saddening. The story also looks at ways in which the passage of time may or may not change us...the audience will meet the characters first as teenagers, and then again sixteen years later as thirtysomethings.
What is it like being a part of lighthouse?: It has been a real treat working with this awesome team of collaborators. Everyone has been generous and fun, and that has made the rehearsal process thoroughly enjoyable.
What kind of theater speaks to you? What or who inspires you as an artist?: Any piece of theater that leaves a lasting imprint on me, or moves me in a memorable way, is what speaks to me most. And I am fortunate to be surrounded by so many smart and funny and passionate people, particularly my family and friends and colleagues--whether they realize or not, it is all of them who constantly inspire me as an artist.
Any roles you’re dying to play?: I look forward to, someday, tackling the real-life role of Dad.
What’s your favorite showtune?: "For Good" from Wicked.
If you could work with anyone you’ve yet to work with, who would it be?: Reed Birney
Who would play you in a movie about yourself and what would it be called?: Bjork would portray me. The film would be called "...And Hijinks Ensue".
If you could go back in time and see any play or musical you missed, what would it be?: RENT--original 1996 cast
What show have you recommended to your friends?: Nirbhaya at The Culture Project
What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?: Onion rings, with chipotle sauce
What’s up next?: I am actually about to go eat some onion rings right now...
