Name: David Carl
Hometown: Dallas, TX
Education: BFA in Performance from the University of Evansville; MFA in Acting from Rutgers; Improv at The PIT, The Magnet, and UCB NY

Why theater?: I like doing theater that is necessary to be live...in other words it really wouldn't be the same as watching a film or TV show...I like connecting with the audience.
Tell us about Gary Busey’s One Man Hamlet: Gary Busey does all of Hamlet by himself in 80 minutes...and I play Gary Busey.
What inspired you to create Gary Busey’s One Man Hamlet?: I love playing Gary Busey and I love Hamlet and I thought it would be really fun to combine these two worlds.
What kind of theater speaks to you? What or who inspires you as an artist?: I love theater that is irreverent, playful, and asks tough questions while entertaining the audience. Theater that speaks to me is visceral, emotional, intellectual and not afraid of low-hanging fruit. It's still good fruit and it will be wasted otherwise. John Turturro, Beck, Stephen Wright, Jim Carrey, Alec Guinness, Susan Sarandon, and the Coen Brothers
If you could work with anyone you’ve yet to work with, who would it be?: Gary Busey
What show have you recommended to your friends?: Muriel's Wedding
Who would play you in a movie about yourself and what would it be called?: I would play myself and it would be called..."Another Good day to be Carl"
What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?: NA
What’s the most played song on your iTunes?: "Don't Mess Around with Jim" by Jim Croce
If you weren’t working in theater, you would be ______?: A zoologist
What’s up next?: I'm creating a show where I do 100 impressions in 30 minutes and I'm workshopping a musical with Katie Hartman called David and Katie Get Re-Married
